Assistance for Local Families Affected by the Temporary Federal Government Shutdown

Financial Assistance:

One22’s Shutdown Relief Fund can assist families affected by the loss of income. With an attestation to the effects of the shutdown, local families and individuals can rapidly receive grants to cover the interest on a nascent personal loan, a loan payment, or other expenses up to $1000. One22’s Emergency Financial Assistance program can also support residents or employees of Teton County, WY, to help stabilize during a time of financial crisis. Applications are available online (www.one22jh.org), and those in need can call 307-739-4500 for information or an appointment.

Local banking institutions have a variety of options and products for customers affected by the shutdown, including but not limited to waived fees for loans, flexibility to delay loan and mortgage payments, and the elimination of overdraft charges. Please contact your financial institution to inquire and advise them you are affected by the shutdown.

Utility Bills:

St. John’s Episcopal Church can help individuals with who cannot pay their utility bills.  Through their program, community members can receive assistance with utility bills.  For more information or to apply for this program please contact Liz Collins at 307-733-2603. 

Food Assistance:

Jackson Whole Grocer’s Federal Worker Appreciation Program is offering individuals affected by the shutdown up to $200 line of credit a week as well as 10% discount on all purchases. No payment required until the government reopens. Contact Customer Service for more information: 733-0450.


The Jackson Food Cupboard can help individuals who need food assistance during the government shutdown.   The Jackson Cupboard is open Monday and Thursday from 4pm – 6pm and Wednesdays from 10am -12pm.  On Fridays, the Jackson Cupboard hosts Free Food Fridays to help reduce food waste.  The public is welcome to come and take perishable food items.  The food is set out from 10:30am-3pm at the St. John’s Episcopal Church parking lot.  Please email jacksonholecupboard@gmail.com or call 307-699-2163 for information on the Jackson Cupboard programs. 
 
The Good Samaritan Mission is also available to help individuals who need food assistance.  The Mission provides food boxes to families or individuals in need when the Jackson Cupboard is closed.  The Mission also provides short-term housing for employed seasonal workers. Hole Food Rescue helps to reduced food waste in Teton County by distributing excess food to organizations.  Hole Food Rescue manages the JH Food Help website that lists all the locations for free or reduced meals in Jackson.  Go towww.jhfoodhelp.com to view or download the map.  

One22 can also assist clients in need with grocery cards and vouchers.

Recreation:

Snow King Mountain Resort is offering free lift tickets on weekdays for federal employees (with government ID).

Inversion Yoga is offering two weeks of unlimited classes free for federal employees (with government ID). Inversion is located at 290 N. Milward St.; 733-3038.

National Museum of Wildlife Art is offering free admission for federal employees plus one guest.

Revolution Cycling is offering two free weeks of classes for federal employees. Requires proof of federal employment.
